History of Capital Punsihment

This documentary gives a great insight into the Victorian transition of prisons becoming proportionally driven. Foucault’s emphasized the difference between the prison system of old and the current regime. It wasn’t that he was a supporter of capital punishment it was that he condemned the current prison system and suggested it’s similarities to modern society. It could be said the Victorian era is when this shift really began. Throughout the documentary there was various clips of old drawings of capital punishment, this are interesting to me. Perhaps I could make some paintings of this and compare them to the photographs of the prison scenes of today.
