Milbank Prision

While researching the construction of a prison, I came across the well known Mill bank prison. I was particularly interested in the birds eye view of a prison and it relevance or perhaps similarity to its public surroundings.

The prison at first glance doesn’t blend into the surroundings, however is it that different, couldn’t it be regarded as an environment within a very similar environment. Here below is an image which reveals more of the surroundings.

Here I explored the similarites with the surrounding area with paint. I find the prison acts as a beacon perhaps, much like a castle would. Something we should fear maybe.

After researching the prision more it came to my attention that it had a link to Jeremy Bentham and his panopticon theory.
